AC Shadows Introduces Unexpected AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected collaboration that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing complimentary bonus story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Revealed
According to the formal announcement, "An unusual encounter pulls protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of prohibited practices and monstrous changes resonate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her friend from a clandestine cult.
The questline concentrates on "peculiar tests and a monstrous adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Metamorphoses
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that rises over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Bonus Material
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an special katana together with multiple artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique implements
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Update
This update also introduces the game's newest no-cost story episode, titled "The Enigma." This humorous quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents hardly the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime franchises. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla unofficially contained a quest that clearly echoed the famous series One-Punch Man.
