It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The greatest achievements have long been mastered.

This is the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase above 300, regaining their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the bowlers that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their batters to hold a record if not provided the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to deliver her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after Australia failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 championship victory came three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was in attendance in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What is certain is this ton was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this knock came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've been watching me in training, it was a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive nature activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's inspiration.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and from there Healy was underway.

"The possibility to take the field and lock in a contest with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at the World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

By the time she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now demanding an easy conclusion.

"To chase 330 is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the assurance to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, should it happen, we are confident we can succeed."

These statements will be the last competing nations at this championship want to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they were eliminated from last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she later said she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have delayed thoughts of retirement, this championship is expected to be her concluding event as leader in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
