FC Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years since relocating so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch based on approved permits. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach over 104,000 attendees, increasing from the former 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted a public practice on the home pitch on 7 November. The club said they were hoping for permission from Uefa for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side next month at Camp Nou. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
