Trump Welcomes Families of Shot Guard Soldiers to White House
Former President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Tragic Event
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in serious condition.
Vigils across West Virginia have occurred in their remembrance.
Presidential Invitation
The president stated he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Attendees came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to remember Beckstrom.
Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to assist policing efforts in DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that instructors hoped for. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s previous school, informed the press. “She was sweet, caring and always eager to support those in need.”
Service plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Measures and Policy Revisions
Officials have accused a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of homicide and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.
The incident caused the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and halt providing visas to holders of travel documents.
Status of Wolfe
Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, started his military career in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told a news show that she aimed to meet with the family.
Memory of Sarah Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a MP with excellence, per the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey informed the crowd at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
