Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident
Two individuals are now facing charges in connection with a luggage theft where a suspected capsaicin spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, now face two robbery charges and two counts of using a harmful chemical, authorities have stated.
The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their suitcases stolen after getting out of a car park lift, according to law enforcement.
A toddler was one of the people hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.
The incident – described by police as was a standalone event and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in train delays and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
